Lawrence Garcia

Lawrence A. Garcia, M.D., is an interventional cardiologist certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. He is also certified in endovascular medicine by the American Board of Vascular Medicine. His clinical focus is peripheral vascular disease.

Dr. Garcia earned his medical degree at University of Arizona, Tucson, and completed an internal medicine residency and research fellowship in cardiology at Parkland Hospital, affiliated with University of Texas (UT) Southwestern, Dallas. He then completed a clinical fellowship in cardiovascular disease at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City; a clinical fellowship in interventional cardiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA; and a clinical fellowship in vascular medicine at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, MA. He joined the medical staff at St. Elizabeth’s in 2009. Previously, he served in a variety of roles at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, including director of the Peripheral Cardiovascular Program and Peripheral Interventions.

An active researcher, Dr. Garcia has participated in more than 40 clinical studies and has served as principal investigator on several national and international trials evaluating therapies for peripheral vascular disease. His research has been published in numerous manuscripts and book chapters. In addition, he has served as course director for many national educational programs and as faculty for more than 50 national and international conferences, including Leipzig Interventional Course (LINC), Complex Cardiovascular Catheter Therapeutics (C3), and Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT).

Dr. Garcia serves on the Editorial Boards of journals including Vascular Disease Management, Journal of Interventional Cardiology, Acute Cardiac Care, Endovascular Today, and Cardiology Today. A fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, and the American Heart Association, Dr. Garcia is a member of many other professional societies including the American College of Physicians and the American Board of Vascular Medicine.
